Chollas Lake Park is a recreational park near San Diego, California. The Chollas Lake served as a reservoir for the water supply for early San Diego. The reservoir was constructed in 1901. The administration & control was taken over by the Parks & Recreation Department in1966. Later, in 1971, it was denominated as the youth fishing lake. Chollas Lake is a 16-acre lake for free youth fishing (for children of ages 15 & below). It had an 0.8-mile dirt path around the lake for walking, jogging, exercising, & bicycling, and hiking trails. It also features picnic tables with barbecue grills, children's play equipment, a multi-purpose ball field in North Chollas canyon, and a small basketball court. It is an apt place for exercise, along with enjoying the breeze and local wildlife here. Also, Fishing clinics are organized every Sat and Sun from 11:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M., open for children (25 years & below). No prior experience is required for this, and the necessary equipment is provided. You can bring dogs here on-leash. The parking facility is free.
