Located in Marin County, the waterfalls are managed by the Point Reyes National Seashore, which generates from the Alamere Creek and cascades down onto the beach constituted of shale and coastal sand. Three trailheads lead on to the beach- Palomarin route, Five Brooks route and Bear Valley route. The first route is the most dangerous yet frequently used one which starts at the Palomarin trailhead and is an approximate of 8.3 miles hike. The shortest hike starts off with a pleasant strolling through the woods and later exposes itself to poisonous oaks and steep slopes leading to skin rashes, injuries, sprains and spasms. The 14.5 miles hike through the Five Brooks route is the least opted out and includes horse stables via Stewart Trails and overgrown woods via Greenpicker Trail. The longest, yet the most favourable route, is the Bear Valley route which starts off on the busy Bear Valley Trail. On the way down to the 15.6 miles hike, it facilitates exquisite views of the Point Reyes, Double Point and the Pacific Ocean through tranquil Glen Trail and Wildcat Camp.

If you're a Hollywood movie buff, there is a very good chance that you have heard of or know about Alcatraz. It has been featured in several films since it ceased to be a prison, the most popular of which are Sean Connery's 'The Rock' and Clint Eastwood's 'Escape from Alcatraz'.
The island was used as a military garrison and prison in the 19th century and it's location as a secure military fortification was an influential reason in the establishment of a federal prison. Today, tours of the prison and the island are at the top of every San Francisco itinerary, educating you about the hundreds of terrifying criminals that have stayed inside the walls of, as it is often called, the Rock.
As a contrast to this otherwise sobering aspect of the prison, the island is planted with several different species of colourful flowers like roses and geraniums, accompanied by many trees and little bushes of berries.
