Lake Merritt
Originally part of the San Francisco Bay, the wetlands and their shores surrounding Lake Merritt were occupied by the Ohlones. Located in Oakland, east of Downtown, the tidal estuary is named after the mayor of Oakland, Dr. Merritt, who donated land worth of 155 acres and hence after declared the lake a National Wildlife Refuge in 1869.

Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine freshwater lake in North America with a height of 6225 feet. Shared between the states of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is used for water storage by the Truckee-Carson Irrigation District (TCID) and serves as a tributary watershed drainage element within the Truckee River Basin with its sole outlet as the Truckee River.
Originally occupied by the Washoe Native Americans, the lake was explored by Lt. John C Fremont on his expedition in 1844 and witnessed a number of changes in names starting from “Lake Bonpland” to “Mountain Lake” to “Fremont’s Lake” to “Lake Bigler” to “Lake Tahoe” finally. Lake Tahoe enjoys its reputation as a great tourist attraction facilitating with an array of recreational activities, summer sports, winter sports, and casinos. Lake Temescal
Lake Temescal is a reservoir in Temescal Regional Park, located in northeastern Oakland, California. Originally a sag pond, the lake was expanded only after the construction of a dam, which is 600 feet long and rises above the Temescal Creek. Renowned as a famous spot for swimming, fishing, sunbathing, and picnicking, the lake was constructed in 1940 by Works Progress Administration crews.
Lake Temescal is one of eleven fishing lakes for recreational anglers in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties accommodating within itself- rainbow trout, largemouth bass, red-ear sunfish, bluegill, and catfish. The lake contains amenities including an artificial recreational beach, a boathouse, a trail-system, and picnic areas equipped with picnic tables and barbeque pits, and a playground. In close proximity is the beach house, fringed with a rose garden, available for rental parties and events such as weddings. It is designed with a patio, kitchen, changing rooms, and easily accessible by physically disabled guests. Landvale Station Trail, East Shore Trail are seen filled with bicyclists whereas West Shore Trail and Oak Bay Trail are often seen filled with hikers. From April to October, swimming is permitted only in the designated swim area around the beach with either under the watch of lifeguards or at one’s own risk.

The Legion of Honor is a replica of the stunning French Pavilion from the 1915 Panama - Pacific exposition. It is a part of the Fine Arts of Museum of San Francisco.
The Legion of Honor, located in the Lincoln Park, is perhaps the most beautiful museum of San Francisco. It's built on an elevated land, holding some of the most beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco city. Linda Falls
Owned by the Land Trust of Napa Valley, the titular waterfalls residing inside the Linda Falls Preserve are the belle of the ball. The Preserve is home to the some of the rare native vegetation including white alder/bay/maple riparian forest and mixed manzanita/chamise/live oak chaparral along with Napa False Indigo. It has also embraced coniferous forest, Douglas firs, madrones, canyon live oaks, black oak and California bay.
On the way to the Howell Mountain Road, near Angwin the Linda Falls trailhead leading to the falls can be found on the left. The paved trail over the Conn Creek further descends into an understory of manzanita and then after a well-marked juncture leads towards a switchback surrounded with groves of redwoods and oaks, finally leading to the falls. Parking can be secured in the west of the tennis courts at Pacific Union College if taken Howell Mountain Road straight up.Hiking to Linda Falls in the rain is a local favourite as the big boulders provide for a scenic and safe spot for soaking in the beauty of the valley. Other alluring waterfalls in the Napa Valley are Marie Falls, Monticello Waterfalls, and Milken Canyon. The Land Trust of Napa Valley help explore the unseen charm of the valley and organizes expert-led tours based on the themes of spring wildflowers, winter ladybug spotting, bird watching and game tracking.

The curvy road itself is an incredibly scenic spot. Since all the turns are in a very short space, from the bottom of the road you can see the winding road coming down. The road has lovely Victorian mansions on either side and gardens with many colourful flowers. It is the 'crookedest road' in San Francisco!
