Akrotiri
Akrotiri is one of the oldest and most important archaeological sites, offering insights into the prehistoric settlement of the town of Akoriti in Santorini. It is often compared to Pompeii, and hence, it is nicknamed Santorini Pompeii. The excavation consists of buildings and items from old times.
The entire town is laid down in the settlement with mud houses, historic buildings, stone bathtubs, Minoan toilets, pots, drinking cups, giant storage vessels, and much more. The ancient city was buried under volcanic ash due to an earthquake and was discovered in an archaeological excavation in 1967. Currently, the settlement has been preserved in a building made of steel and wood framework. From everyday products to furniture, beds, and tables have been recreated for preservation. There are defined routes throughout the area with informative written boards.

Fira
Fira is the main town on the island located on top of the cliff. The town doesn't have much to offer apart from its stunning beauty, amazing landscapes, the museum, few bars, and clubs.
Probably the best thing in the town is Museum on Prehistoric Thira where the story of Akrotiri is told through collection of Bronze age and Neolithic artifacts. Other things to do include a visit to any winery which will give you a free tour. There are some amazing bakeries as well in the town. Visit the churches and see the amazing artwork found in them. You can swim in the hot springs and get a close up view of the volcano. Tours are also organised for the volcano. you can walk along Agiou Mina street which goes down the cliff, from the south part of town all the way to the cable car. It provides the stunning views of Fira and the surrounding areas.

Oia
Oia, also known as La is another picturesque town located in the western part of the island. Loved by both tourists and artists, the town is the destination for all the cruise ships coming from all over the Europe.
Among the few things to see in Oia is Fort Londsa, a ruined castle which was the seat of Argyri family. The town also includes numerous churches, an old windmill. The grand sea captain's houses from the 1800s is another thing you should'nt miss in Oia. Naval Maritime Museum is also located in Oia which displays figureheads, ancient nautical charts, seamen's chests, old maritime equipment, drawings and patterns, models of old and new Thiran ships and historic photographs and has a library containing many letters and documents.

Perissa
Another sea-side yet quiet town of Santorini, Perissa is famous for its long black sand beaches. All the usual water based activities take place here. Also, a regular water taxi is there to take you to the neighbouring town of Kamari on a round trip.
Black beach is the only thing to wander in Perissa. You can also climb the mountain to view the ancient Fira archeological site. There are many places around the beach where you can get traditional Santorini cuisine.

Santorini Volcano
Santorini volcano is considered one of the most important attractions with crescent-shaped Cladera, which is a result of a volcanic eruption many years ago. Amoudi Beach is a beautiful bay and a small port located at the bottom of the beautiful Oia village. Unlike other typical beaches, it is a rocky volcanic coast with crystalline water perfect for diving. It is also ideal for peaceful walks.
The beach is considered the most picturesque spot in Santorini with amazing views of the fishing boats and beautiful sunset. Along the coast, a path leads to high rocks which is an ideal spot for strong swimmers to dive. The beach does not have any sunbeds and umbrellas but there are several fish taverns along the waterfront. Wearing comfortable shoes is recommended as the beach and bottom are both rocky. Amoudi beach can be reached via car, the traditional way of donkey ride or via foot (more than 200 steps).

Ancient Thera
Ancient Thera is the second most important site in Santorini which is a must-visit attraction to deepen knowledge of ancient history and culture and enjoy a panoramic view of the Aegean Sea. It is located on Mesa Vouno Mountain close to Kamari town. It houses ruins of elegant Hellenistic shops, sculptures, arts and crafts, and much more.
In 1895, evacuation in the area uncovered Hellenistic settlement that dates back to the 9th century. In the evacuation process, a mountain saddle between the Mesa Vouno and Profitis Ilias was discovered. The road leading to the entrance is narrow and steep, making the drive difficult. You can drive up to a hill to Old Thera through a winding paved road offering beautiful views of the beach below.
