The journey from Mananthavady requires a combination of road travel and trekking. Visitors can hire jeeps or other vehicles to reach Thirunelli, from where the trek to Pakshipathalam starts. The trek is approximately 7 kilometers long and takes around 3 to 4 hours to complete, traversing through dense forests and steep terrains, offering an adventurous route to the sanctuary.
