Keri Beach

Keri beach, also known as the Lake of Keri, is a popular beach located at the end of Laganas Bay on the southwestern coast of Zakynthos. The pebbled beach is surrounded by both a mountain and a sea-facing village. Several traditional taverns, cafes, ice cream kiosks, and bars are along the narrow shore. Visitors can take diving lessons and snorkelling sessions in the beautiful turquoise waters. Take a water taxi to the blue caves or a full-day boat tour across the island. Korakonissi

Korakonissi

Koraknissi is one of the most picturesque spots on Zakynthos island, located near Kiliomenos village on the northwestern coast. This small secluded bay is famous for its rock formations, one of which has a 20 m high naturally carved arch. The rock formations are popular freediving spots. Snorkelling and scuba diving are a must due to the rich marine life and almost complete visibility within the water. The rocky landscape is complemented by the sheer aquamarine waters forming natural pools and extending to great depths. There are only a handful of resting spots and a tavern right above the beach area. Visitors have to take a challenging climb down the steep stone steps and uneven rocky surface to access the diving spots. Laganas Beach

Laganas beach is located within the Laganas village on the southern coast of Zakynthos. This 9 km long sandy beach is known for its crystalline, warm waters, which are home to the native Loggerhead sea turtles. The beach is famous for its extravagant nightlife, with several clubs, cafes, and bars in close proximity. Tourists can enjoy snorkelling, scuba diving in shallow waters, and even spot a few sea turtles. Paddle boating and kayaking are popular watersports here. Take a boat tour to the nearby Marathonisi or turtle island, Keri caves, and Mizitheras.  Cross the scenic wooden bridge to reach the Agios Sostis islet on the opposite end of the beach. Several tavernas, restaurants, snack bars, and souvenir shops are on the main road of the resort village. Marathonisi is a small island located right across Keri beach in Laganas Bay on the southern coast of Zakynthos. It is popularly known as turtle island due to the distinctive turtle shape of the island. The uninhabited island is a protected territory for the native Loggerhead turtles and Sea seals. Visitors have limited access to the island, restricted to a pebbled beach, a white sandy beach, and a few sea caves. Glass bottom boat tours are a popular activity around the island. The island has a mountainous limestone cliff covered with dense green olive and oak trees. Enjoy a fun-filled swimming or snorkelling session in the deep blue waters amongst the Loggerhead turtles and fishes. Marathonisi falls under the Marine Park of Zakynthos and is accessible via boats. The National Marine Park of Zakynthos is situated within the Laganas Bay area on the island's southern coast. Some famous loggerhead turtle nesting beaches, such as Gerakas, Sekania, Laganas, Limni Keri, Kalamaki, and Cameo, fall under the park. The Marine park has the most famous underwater diving and snorkelling spots on the island, where one can swim in the enchanting turquoise waters amongst rare marine animals such as sea urchins, seals, turtles, fishes, crustaceans and vibrant coral reefs. The famous Navagio Beach, popularly known as the Shipwreck beach, is located on the western coast of Zakynthos near Anafonitria Village. There are two viewing points on the beach. A closer official viewing point is at a small fenced balcony at a clifftop where tourists can stop for a minute to get an aerial view of the beach. The main Navagio Beach viewpoint is a 15-20 minute rocky trail hike from the official viewpoint, which leads to a cliffside edge on one end of the beach. This point provides the most scenic overhead view of the beach and the shipwreck. The Navagio Beach viewpoint is only accessible via road or a hike from the beachfront. Visitors can also see some other popular attractions near Navagio, such as Keri Caves, Alykes Beach, Blue Caves, and Anafonitria Monastery. Read More

Zakynthos Town Port is located on the east coast of the island. It begins from Solomos Square and stretches to the Agios Dionysios Church within the capital. One of the island's most popular and crowded spots, the port is lined with Venetian-style white houses, traditional restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops. The port waterfront has a promenade area and several small gardens for a scenic stroll. The Solomos Square is an open plaza on the seafront named after the famous Greek Poet Dionysios Solomos. Porto Limnionas beach is a secluded cove on the western coast of Zakynthos. The uneven surface of the land makes it more of a rocky, narrow bay than a beach. Porto Limnionas is surrounded by high limestone cliffs, which serve as popular freediving spots. The enchanting turquoise waters and mesmerising underwater caves make it a great snorkelling and scuba diving spot. Rent a car or private boat, or take a group boat tour to get to the secluded beach. The beach is accessible after a short walk from the hilltop down the naturally carved stairs. This beach is not a family-friendly spot due to the absence of basic facilities and a flat sandy shoreline. The Portos Limnionas taverna, with its built-in platforms, is towards the end of the cliffs, where visitors can rent sunbeds and parasols.
