Bahnhofstrasse

According to a 2011 study, Bahnhofstrasse was named as the third most expensive retail street in the world. Its existence goes back to 150 years when the place was the city moat also called as Fröschengraben ('Ditch of the Frogs'). The street's presence came together when the city's defence was collapsed in 1864, and it was given a new name of Bahnhofstrasse ('Railway Station Street'). Today this street, a 1.4 kilometres stretch connects Lake Zurich with the central Railway station and is mostly a pedestrian zone. It starts from Bahnhofplatz (A station square) through Rennweg, Augustinergasse, Paradeplatz and then finally ending at Bürkliplatz on Lake Zurich. Since trams are a major part of 'Zurich's transport system, Bahnhofstrasse also holds a central part of Zurich's tram network. 'Since1880's other than the S-Bahn, trolleybus and bus, trams have formed integral transfer modes in Switzerland.

Bürkliplatz, Zurich

He also worked on reconstructing Zurich from 1867 to improve the city’s water supply and sewerage system. Earlier Bürkliplatz resided on swamplands between Limmat River and Lake Zurich on pile dwellings to prevent floodings by other rivers of Linth and Jona.Stadthausanlage, a point of interest at Bürkliplatz was formerly part of Kratzquartier accommodation at Bauschänzli. It was built in 1833 by continuous land filling made up of rubble, along the lakeside thereby forming a modern lakeshore city.Today Bürkliplatz is a historic place situated at Alpenquai region, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site around the Alps, Switzerland. Considered as a starting point for visitors of Lake Zurich, the spot also a dock now holds a variety of official and leisure events. On the west of Bürkliplatz lies the Quay Bridge or Quaibrücke that crosses Limmat River and Bahnhofstrasse. Bruno Weber Park
Located on the outskirts of the city, Bruno Weber Park is a massive sculpture park, with beautiful sculptures, a huge number of columns, buildings, towers bridges, and many other structures. It is a huge spread of architectural beauty.
The park, which was established in 1962, with a size of over 20 square kilometres, falls in the municipalities of Spreitenbach and Dietikon. The villa, or the home, of Bruno Weber inside the park is quite a sight to behold in itself. Over the years, the park has developed, making many new additions such as the water garden, which is today the centre piece of the park. Many general renovations have also been made, since it is not very easy to maintain the huge park with the small staff that it has. The Fraumünster Church is one of the oldest and most important churches in Switzerland. It is one of the four major churches of Zurich. Located in Limmat, the church is one of the most prominent landmarks in Zurich with its green steeple.
The church was built as part of the convent of aristocratic women that was formed by Louis the German for his daughter in 835. Over the course of time, the abbey gained a lot of power and influence, up until the 16th century, when it was dissolved in 1524. The most famous feature of the Fraumünster Church are the Chaggal windows, designed by Marc Chaggal and installed in 1970. These are 5 huge stained glass windows, each depicting a story from Christianity. The works from right to left are- Law, Zion, Christ, Jacob and Prophets. Another enormous stained glass work is that of Augusto Giacometti, who did his in 1942. The Romanesque chancel and the high vaulted trancept are also beautiful architectural features of the church.

Grossmunster Church
Grossmünster Church is one of the four main churches in Zurich that is designed in Romanesque style. The twin tower structure houses a platform offering a spectacular view of the lake and a small museum that has Roman cultural artefacts.
With carved medieval columns, Ornate bronze doors and grotesques, the building of the church is elegant. There is a botanical garden at the front end of the church that is decorated with ornamental plants having cultural importance. Do visit the crypt that has 14th-century murals and the chapel that is sophistically decorated with stained glasses at the end of the church tour.
